Responsible Pet Parents

Hello again. I read an article the other day about pets and their owners and one story in particular disturb me terribly. I have not really been able to stop thinking about it since. People don't seem to grasp the idea that having a pet is more than jst a plaything but a huge responsibility. People are so complacent and noncahlant about it. To them its no big deal, but it is a big deal. Like a human child, a pet is a living feeling creature and really no different than we humans are. But lately I have seen and read alot about just how responsible most pet parents and families really are. Some of them I don't think really thought about what it takes to have a pet and most i think don't really care. Alot of people have a pet as a status sign just to show off where they stand in life and this is unfair to both the animal and people who do want pets and can't have them for one reason or another.
Anyway, I wrote a comment on an article about people having pets and being responsible parents to that pet and how a pet should never be left alone in the home. I explained that leaving a pet alone and unattended could have dire consequences such as, what if a fire was a fire in the house and no one was there to get the pet out, or as we all know puppies like to chew things and this includes electrical wires, the puppy could be electrecuted if no one was around. Pets go through stress just like people do and sometimes some pets will develope speraration anxiety and become destructful.
After posting this cooment I recieved many replies and not at all very friendly. To those who relied saw me as a nutcase because I am a RESPONSIBLE pet parent.....unlike them, I am always thinking about the safety and well being of the pet just as I would a human child. Many of the posters who replied to my comment feel no obligation to take precautions to insure that their pets are safe at home. I simply suggested that if you are going to have a pet be responsible about it and DON'T leave the pet completely alone in the home EVER. I suggested pet sitting services, dog walkers services, or maybe have friends help by looking in on the pet during your work hours if you can't be at home with your pet. Having a pet does NOT mean you have to give up your life and anyone who thinks i suggested that is an all out pathetic arrogant idiot. A pet is not a toy or a status symbol, It is a living breathing feeling creature who needs as much love and care as a child. If you are going not going to be responsible then for christ's sake don't have a pet, leave it to people who do take pet responsibility seriously. People who are responsible pet parents make the best animal care people in the world and the best parents. If there were more of them in the world there would be alot less animal abuse, cruelty and neglect.
So in summary I am NOT crazy, I just take responsibility of my pet's safety and well being to heart no matter what it costs me. My pet gives me something no human being on the planet can give me and thats real and unconditional love and all I have to do is love my pet, what more could I ask for???     Till Next time!!!
